Evesham Lesiure Centre - Evesham, Worcestershire, UK

local authority leisure facility for Wychavon District Council
£9million / 2009 / with Saville Jones Architects

Evesham Leisure Centre by Saville Jones Architects for Wychavon District Council (2009) - a £9million leisure centre for which I helped to develop the technical design packages during a summer work placement during RIBA Part I.

This new facility, opened in 2009, provides the town of Evesham and the locality, with a state of the art leisure centre. The new centre includes and 25m swimming pool, learner pool with moveable floor, health spa, climbing wall, sports hall, fitness studio, treatment rooms, dance studio and café.

The quality of finishes is high and the building is light, bright and welcoming. The exterior is clad in a mixture of brick, copper and timber, providing a low maintenance sustainable building. The centre enjoys good levels of natural light, including sun-pipes to internal areas and has high levels of insulation. The sports hall has windcatchers on the roof, providing natural ventilation and a Combined Heat and Power unit is also installed to reduce running costs.
